Stanford CS M.S. to Ph.D. Pathways Program

The objective of this program is to increase the number of diverse students that are admitted into the Stanford CS M.S. program by ensuring that some of our most promising candidates obtain additional research experience. Admittance into the Stanford CS M.S. to Ph.D. Pathways Program is made after students have been accepted into the M.S. program.

Students who are chosen for this program will obtain research experience under the advisement and mentorship of CS faculty and obtain research publication(s) and/or present their academic research at a national or international conference. The student fellows will receive funding for five quarters during the program, and the department will financially support the student fellows in presenting at a research conference, which includes hotel, airfare, transportation, and conference registration fees.

In addition, we ask that the faculty mentors connect the student fellows with current graduate students and postdocs within the department via one-on-one meetings and group meetings so that student fellows can build relationships as well as identify additional educational opportunities. The Stanford CS M.S. to Ph.D. Pathways Program also holds several workshops throughout the academic year to provide students with academic and social support during their time at Stanford.
